TheFranconia football team, also calledFranken 11,[3] is a team representing the people ofFranconia, located in south-centralGermany.[4][5][6]

History

[edit]

The team was founded in 2014 by Rudi Schiebel. They played their first game againstRaetia on 29 May 2014; this game was opposed by theBavarian Football Association as it claimed to be exclusively responsible for organizing any "selected teams".[7]

They entered the2015 ConIFA European Football Cup but later withdrew. Franconia also took part in the2016 ConIFA World Football Cup qualification but failed to make it through to the finals.

Together with the separatist Franconian Union, he founded the Franconian Football Association and then asked the Bavarian Football Association if they could help him to organize a friendly match. Surprisingly they agreed to this idea but only under the condition that they would organize it themselves because they didn' want to acknowledge his FFA.
