Fortress Hill orPau Toi Shan (Chinese:炮台山;pinyin:Pàotáishān;Jyutping:paau3 toi4 saan1) is a hill and anarea on the north shore ofHong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Fortress Hill includes the western part ofNorth Point lying west ofOil Street, and the eastern part ofCauseway Bay. There are a number of private residential estates,office buildings,hotels andserviced apartments in this area.
The names ofOil Street and Shell Street come from a formeroil depot that was established byRoyal Dutch (now Royal Dutch Shell) in the area in 1897. The depot was decommissioned in 1981.[1][2]
The area is served by theFortress Hill station of theMTR rapid transit railway, by theHong Kong Tramways along King's Road and by severalbus andminibus routes.
Streets include:King's Road,Electric Road,Island Eastern Corridor,Fortress Hill Road (炮台山道),Oil Street (油街),Shell Street (蜆殼街), andMerlin Street (麥連街).
