Format Films was ananimation studio which was founded byHerbert Klynn in 1959 withJules Engel as vice president,[1] Bob McIntosh andJoseph Mugnaini, all of whom were animators.
It was most active during the 1960s, producing episodes ofThe Alvin Show andPopeye the Sailor. Klynn shut his studio in 1963 but reopened it by 1965 as Format Productions when Engels left for Europe. The studio made eleven sub-contracted shorts inWarner Bros.' theatricalRoad Runner series as well as threeDaffy Duck andSpeedy Gonzales shorts, and producedThe Lone Ranger animated series forCBS in 1966.
Format Productions also createdtitle sequences for several TV series, includingI Spy,Honey West, the animated characters on the television variety showHee Haw, animated various TV commercials, and createdfilm title designs forThe Glory Guys andClambake.
