Ford Italia S.p.A., previouslyFord Italiana S.A. andFord Motor Company Italia, is theItalian subsidiary of theUnited States–based automakerFord Motor Company.
Ford founded the Ford Motor Company Italia inTrieste in 1923 to assembleautomobiles.[1] The company moved toBologna in 1933.[1] After theSecond World War, the company was renamedFord Italiana SA.[1] In 1959, it moved toRome.[1] By 1964, their only independent model was theFord Anglia Torino. Production ended in 1967,[2] and the company still exists today asFord Italia S.p.A.
First, the modelsFord Model T andFord Model TT[1] andFordsonTractor were produced. The Ford Anglia Torino was introduced on the basis of theFord Anglia 105E in 1964.[2]Giovanni Michelotti had revised the bodywork and in particular replaced the rear-sloping rear window.[2] Production took place atOSI.[2] Production of the model ended in 1967.[2] A total of 10,000 copies were sold in Italy.[2]
