TheFontana del Pantheon (English:Fountain of the Pantheon) was commissioned by PopeGregory XIII and is located in thePiazza della Rotonda, Rome, in front of theRoman Pantheon. It was designed byGiacomo Della Porta in 1575 and sculpted out ofmarble byLeonardo Sormani.[1]

In 1711, PopeClement XI requested that the fountain be modified and hadFilippo Barigioni design a new layout, which included a different basin, made of stone, and theMacuteo obelisk, created during the period ofRamses II, set in the centre on aplinth with four dolphins decorating the base.

In 1886, the original marble figures were removed, and replaced with copies byLuigi Amici. Today, the originals can be seen in theMuseum of Rome.
