Fernando Fernández "El Crooner de México" (1916–1999) was a Mexican actor, singer and director.[1] He was born on November 9, 1916, inMonterrey, Mexico, and died inMexico City, Mexico, on November 24, 1999. Fernando was the son of Eloisa Reyes, brother of the film directorEmilio Fernández and actorJaime Fernández, and cousin toEmilio Fernández.[2] He was married to singerLupita Palomera, who died in 2008. Fernando Fernández was known as "the Crooner of Mexico."[1]
Fernández first began singing at radio stationXEH in Monterrey in 1933, then moved on to radio stationXEN located in Mexico City, Mexico, and then later at radio stationXEB also located in Mexico City. Fernández returned to Monterrey at his father's request and became a producer at radio stationXET, then worked at radio stationXET in Mexico City.[1] Fernández then spent six months working forRadio Mil Diez inHavana, Cuba.[3][4]
Fernández appeared in movies such asLa feria de las flores (The flower fair),Enamorada (In love) andAmbiciosa (Ambitious). He made his directing debut withEl fistol del diablo.
