Felipe Arantes (born 9 February 1988) is a retiredBrazilianmixed martial artist, who competed in thebantamweight andfeatherweight divisions. A professional MMA competitor from 2008 to 2018, Arantes mostly fought in Brazil before signing with theUFC.
Arantes started training inJudo andTae Kwon Do at 12 years old andMuay Thai when he was 14. He eventually turned to MMA training when he turned 18.[4]
Arantes made his professional MMA debut in May 2008. He competed in events for smaller promotions in his native Brazil (Paranagua Fight, Samurai FC, Full Battle Heroes) and in the United States (Ultimate Warrior Challenge and Urban Conflict Championships) before signing with the UFC. Prior to his UFC debut he had amassed a record of 13 wins, 3 losses and 2 No Contests.[5]
Arantes officially signed with the UFC in July 2011.[6] He made his promotional debut on 27 August 2011 atUFC 134 againstIuri Alcântara, replacing an injuredAntonio Carvalho.[7] He lost to Alcântara via unanimous decision.
In his second UFC bout, Arantes facedAntonio Carvalho on 14 January 2012 atUFC 142.[8] He won the fight via unanimous decision, earning his first UFC victory.[9]
Arantes facedMilton Vieira on 23 June 2012 atUFC 147.[10] The two fought to a split draw.[11]
Arantes facedGodofredo Pepey on 8 June 2013 atUFC on Fuel TV 10.[12] He won the fight via TKO in the first round.[13]
Arantes was expected to faceSam Sicilia on 4 September 2013 atUFC Fight Night 28.[14] However, Sicilia pulled out of the bout and was replaced byKevin Souza.[15] He lost the fight via split decision.[16]
Arantes facedMaximo Blanco on 15 February 2014 atUFC Fight Night 36.[17] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[18]

Making his bantamweight debut, Arantes facedYves Jabouin on 23 August 2015 atUFC Fight Night 74.[21] He won the fight via submission in the first round and also earned aPerformance of the Night bonus.[22][23]
Arantes next facedJerrod Sanders on 7 July 2016 atUFC Fight Night 90.[24] He won the fight via submission in the second round.[25]
Arantes facedÉrik Pérez on 5 November 2016 atThe Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3 Finale.[26] Pérez was awarded a split decision victory.[27]
Arantes was briefly linked to a rematch withIuri Alcântara on 3 June 2017 atUFC 212.[28] However, on 11 May, Arantes was pulled from the fight for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by promotional newcomerBrian Kelleher.[29]
Arantes was scheduled to faceLuke Sanders on 16 September 2017 atUFC Fight Night 116.[30] However, the fight was scrapped after Arantes fell sick on 14 September from an undisclosed illness.[31]
Arantes facedJosh Emmett in a featherweight bout on 21 October 2017 atUFC Fight Night 118.[32] He lost the fight via unanimous decision.[33]
Arantes facedSong Yadong on 23 June 2018 atUFC Fight Night 132.[34] He lost the fight via knockout in the second round.[35]
On 28 June 2018, Arantes announced his retirement from professional fighting after the loss in UFC Fight Night 132 in Singapore.[36]
