TheFederal Correctional Complex, Victorville (FCC Victorville) is a United Statesfederal prison complex located in theVictor Valley of theMojave Desert, inSan Bernardino County, southernCalifornia. It is on part of the formerGeorge Air Force Base (1941−1992) nearVictorville, approximately 85 miles (137 km) northeast ofDowntown Los Angeles.[1]
The complex is built upon a designatedSuperfund site. 33 toxic chemicals are known to be present in the facility water supply and have caused illness among several inmates.[2]
The prison complex is operated by theFederal Bureau of Prisons, a division of theUnited States Department of Justice.[3]
