Fazal Abbas Maken is a retiredPakistanicivil servant, belonging to thePakistan Administrative Service, who retired inBPS-22 grade.[1] He remainedCabinet Secretary of Pakistan from 14 August 2018 until his retirement on 21 March 2019.[2][3]

Prior to his posting as theCabinet Secretary, he was theFederal Secretary forMinistry of National Food Security & Research.[4][5] He also remained Federal Secretary ofMinistry of Science and Technology.[6] He has also served as the Additional Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Additional Secretary of Ministry of Interior.[7][8] From February 2005 to August 2009, Mr Maken served as Minister (Trade) at the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi.[9]

After his retirement,Prime Minister of Pakistan,Imran Khan, proposed his name for the post of theChief Election Commissioner of Pakistan.[10][11][12]

He was appointed as the Member of the prestigiousFederal Public Service Commission by order of thePresident of Pakistan on 10 November 2020 for a period of 3 years.[13][14]
