Faurea is agenus containing 16species offlowering plants in theproteafamily which occur in the summer rainfall area of southernAfrica, extending to tropical Africa andMadagascar. The name honoursSouth African soldier andbotanist William Caldwell Faure (1822–1844) who was killed on active service in India.[2]
