Fabrizio Gifuni (born 16 July 1966) is an Italian stage, film and television actor. He won twoSilver Ribbons and twoDavid di Donatello Award.

Life and career

Born inRome, the son of the politicianGaetano, Gifuni enrolled at theSilvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1992.[1][2] He made his film debut in 1996, inLa bruttina stagionata.[1][3] Two years later he had hisbreakout role as Pelaia inGianni Amelio'sThe Way We Laughed, then in 1999 he received a nomination for Best Actor at theDavid di Donatello for his performance inA Love.[1][4]

In 2002 Gifuni was appointedEFP Shooting Star at theBerlin International Film Festival for his performance inGiuseppe Bertolucci'sProbably Love.[5] In 2003 thanks to his performance inThe Best of Youth he received his second nomination forDavid di Donatello and won theNastro d'Argento forBest Actor along with the rest of the male cast.[1] He received a third nomination forDavid di Donatello in 2012, forMarco Tullio Giordana'sPiazza Fontana: The Italian Conspiracy.[6]

In 2014 he won theDavid di Donatello for Best Supporting Actor and theNastro d'Argento for Best Actor for his role inHuman Capital.

In 2023 he won theDavid di Donatello for Best Actor for his role ofAldo Moro inMarco Bellocchio'sExterior Night.

Personal life

Gifuni is married to actressSonia Bergamasco, since 2000. They have two daughters.[7][8]

He was son of politicianGaetano Gifuni, former Secretary General of theItalian President from 1992 to 2006 and formerMinister for Parliamentary Relations in 1987.
