Fábián Marozsán (born 8 October 1999) is a Hungarian professionaltennis player. He has a career highATP singles ranking of world No. 36 achieved on 6 May 2024 and a doubles ranking of No. 444 achieved on 16 January 2023.[1] He is currently the No. 1 Hungarian player.[2]
He won his first Challenger title in August 2022 inBanja Luka and reached the top 200 at world No. 185 on 29 August 2022.[3]
He won his second Challenger in March 2023 inAntalya[4] and moved to a new career high of No. 128 on 20 March 2023.
Ranked No. 135, Marozsán made his ATP and Masters 1000 debut at the2023 Italian Open after qualifying into the main draw. He won his first Masters level match, defeatingCorentin Moutet. In his second round match, he defeated 32nd seedJiří Lehečka in a third set tiebreaker. He then upset world No. 2Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets for the biggest win of his career and first top-5 and top-10 win, to reach the fourth round. As a result, he moved 20 positions up to world No. 115 on 22 May 2023.[5][6] He lost toBorna Ćorić in three sets.[7]
He reached the top 100 on 19 June 2023, after winning thePerugia Challenger title, defeating top seedPedro Cachin in the semifinals and wildcard Edoardo Lavagno in the final without dropping a set en route.[8]
He made his debut at the2023 Wimbledon Championships as a lucky loser after the late withdrawal ofNick Kyrgios.[9]
In his second Grand Slam main draw appearance, he reached the second round of the2023 US Open. In his first round match, he defeatedRichard Gasquet in a five sets match where he was originally leading by two sets and a break.[10]
At the2023 Rolex Shanghai Masters he reached again the fourth round at the Masters level in the season and only twice in his career, defeatingArthur Rinderknech, 11th seedAlex de Minaur andDušan Lajović for his fourth, fifth and sixth wins at a Masters 1000 level all in straight sets.[11] He became the first Hungarian to reach a quarterfinal at the Masters 1000 level since the series began in 1990 with a top-10 win overCasper Ruud.[12][3] He lost to 16th seed and eventual championHubert Hurkacz in three sets.[13]
He reached another quarterfinal at the2023 Sofia Open defeatingRoberto Bautista Agut coming back from a break down in the third set and converting his fourth match point, before losing toJan-Lennard Struff.[14]
At the2024 Australian Open he reached the third round with wins overMarin Čilić and 22nd seedFrancisco Cerundolo.[15]At the2024 BNP Paribas Open he reached the fourth round of a Masters for the third time in his career defeating lucky loserJurij Rodionov, 24th seedNicolás Jarry and qualifierThiago Seyboth Wild.At the2024 Miami Open he reached again the fourth round of a Masters, this time defeatingAleksandar Kovacevic, upsetting sixth seedHolger Rune, for his third top-10 win, dropping only two games en route in less than one hour,[16][17] andAlexei Popyrin also in straight sets.[18] He defeated another Australian and top 10 playerAlex de Minaur to reach his second Masters quarterfinal. As a result he reached the top 40 in the rankings.[19]
At the2025 Australian Open Marozsan reached again the third round defeating 17th seedFrances Tiafoe, in his second fifth setter at the tournament.[20]
