Fabián Larry Estoyanoff Poggio (born 27 September 1982) is a Uruguayan former professionalfootballer who played as awinger. He is the currentsporting director ofUruguayan Primera División clubFénix.

Club career

Born inMontevideo, Estoyanoff started his career atCentro Atlético Fénix in 2000, and was loaned toPeñarol two years later. In 2005 he signed a five-year contract withValencia CF in Spain,[1] but never represented the club during his tenure, which included several loan spells.[2]

Estoyanoff made hisLa Liga debut in the2005–06 season, appearing regularly asCádiz CF[3] were relegated.The following campaign, he also featured consistently forDeportivo de La Coruña (although mainly as asubstitute),[4] scoring the game's only goal in a start againstRCD Mallorca at home, through apenalty.[5]

Valencia loaned Estoyanoff again for2007–08, and he started out withReal Valladolid,[6] where a lack of playing time prompted another loan, with a return to Uruguay and Peñarol in January 2008.[7] There, he once again teamed up withCarlos Bueno; he played in Spain as a non-foreigner, having received anItalian passport.[8]

Estoyanoff was finally released by Valencia in June 2008, eventually agreeing on a move toPanionios FC, having a successfulfirst season in theSuper League Greece. In 2010, the 28-year-old re-joined former side Peñarol on loan, and the move was made permanent the following year.[9]

In January 2015, Estoyanoff signed forAl Nassr FC in theSaudi Professional League. On 5 May, after his team had suffered a1–3 home loss toLekhwiya SC in theAFC Champions League, he attacked opposing playerNam Tae-hee from behind in the tunnel, being subsequently fined in 50% of his salary.[10]

International career

Estoyanoff made his debut forUruguay on 25 July 2001 inthat year'sCopa América, playing the final 15 minutes in a 2–1 semi-final defeat againstMexico.[11][12] Subsequently, he appeared at the2004 – scoring twice for the eventual third-placed nation[13]– and2007continental tournaments.[14]

Estoyanoff'sgrandfather, Dimitar Stoyanov, was aBulgarian stock breeder from theSofia Valley who emigrated to Uruguay during theBalkan Wars (1912–13).[15]
