Forkhead box protein K2 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theFOXK2gene.[5][6]
Theprotein encoded by thisgene contains a fork headDNA binding domain. This protein can bind to thepurine-rich motifs of theHIV long terminal repeat (LTR), and to the similar purine-rich motif in theinterleukin 2 (IL2) promoter. It may be involved in the regulation of viral and cellular promoter elements.[6]
