Extrema is amunicipality in thestate ofMinas Gerais in theSoutheast region ofBrazil.[2][3][4][5]
The municipality contains part of the 180,373 hectares (445,710 acres)Fernão Dias Environmental Protection Area, created in 1997.[6]
Extrema was discovered on 26 December 1788, and became municipality on 16 September 1901.
