Eva Kjer Hansen (born 26 August 1964 inAabenraa) is a Danish former politician, who was a member of theFolketing for theVenstre political party. She held many ministerial positions, the last being as minister ofFisheries,Gender Equality andNordic Cooperation from 2 May 2018 to 27 June 2019. Hansen was a member of parliament from the1990 Danish general election to the2022 Danish general election where she was not re-elected.[1]
She was theDanishMinister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries as member of theCabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen II,III and theLars Løkke Rasmussen I Cabinet from 12 September 2007 until 23 February 2010, and she wasMinister of Social Affairs andMinister for Women's Rights from 2 August 2004 to 12 September 2007, as member of theCabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen I and II. As part of theLars Løkke Rasmussen II Cabinet she wasMinister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries from 28 June 2015 until 29 February 2016. She wasMinister for Gender Equality,Fisheries andNordic Cooperation from 2 May 2018 to 27 June 2019. After the2019 election Venstre became the opposition to the newSocial Democrats government, and Hansen lost her position as minister.[2] Having lost her seat in the Folketing following the2022 Danish general election, Hansen quit politics, including resigning from her position as councilor inKolding Municipality. Hansen intends to find a new job.[1]
