European route E 75 is part of theInternational E-road network, which is a series of main roads inEurope.

The E 75 starts at the town ofVardø inNorway by theBarents Sea, and it runs south throughFinland,Poland,Czech Republic,Slovakia,Hungary,Serbia,North Macedonia, andGreece. The road ends after about 4,380 kilometres (2,720 mi) (not counting ferries) at the town ofSitia on the eastern end of the island ofCrete in theMediterranean Sea,[1] it being the most southerly point reached by an E-road. (The northernmost one is theE69.)

From the beginning of the 1990s until 2009, there was no ferry connection betweenHelsinki andGdańsk. However,Finnlines started a regular service between Helsinki andGdynia. It is also possible to take a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn and drive along theE67 from Tallinn toPiotrków Trybunalski in Poland and then continue with the E75.

The E75 in Greece currently runs fromEvzonoi in the north toSitia in the south, viaThessaloniki (branch fromChalastra),Larissa,Almyros,Lamia,Athens,Chania,Heraklion andAgios Nikolaos: the section betweenPiraeus (southwest of Athens) and Chania is a ferry.[2]

In relation to the national road network, the E75 currently follows (in order, from north to south):[3]

  • TheA1 motorway, from Evzonoi to Chalastra
  • The A1 andA2 motorways, fromKleidi [el] to Thessaloniki (branch), via Chalastra
  • The A1 motorway, from Kleidi to Piraeus
  • TheA90 motorway andEO90 road, from Chania to Sitia

The E75 runs concurrently with theE65 betweenRoditsa [el] andBralos, theE90 betweenKalochori and Kleidi (via Chalastra), and theE92 between Larissa andVelestino. The E75 also connects with the southern end of the E65 at Chania, theE79 at Thessaloniki, theE86 atGefyra, theE94 atMetamorfosi, and the northern end of theE962 atThebes.[2]
