TheConfederal Group of the European United Left was asocialist andcommunist political group with seats in theEuropean Parliament between 1994 and 1995.
The Confederal Group of the European United Left[4] was formed on 19 July 1994.[4] It consisted of MEPs from theUnited Left of Spain (including theSpanish Communist Party), the GreekSynaspismós, theFrench Communist Party, thePortuguese Communist Party, theCommunist Party of Greece, and theCommunist Refoundation Party of Italy.
In 1995, the enlargement of the European Union led to the creation of the Nordic Green Left. It consisted of MEPs from the FinnishLeft Alliance, the SwedishLeft Party and the DanishSocialist People's Party. TheNordic Green Left Alliance merged with the Confederal Group of the European United Left on 6 January 1995,[4] and the resultant Group was called theConfederal Group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left.[5][6][7]
