European was a brand ofFormula One engines. European sponsoredMinardi in the 2001 season and acted as the engine supplier to the team. The engines wereFord-built engines, branded as European.[1]

History

European supplied engines forMinardi ofFernando Alonso at the2001 Belgian Grand Prix.

European Aviation was a regular sponsor acrossFormula One andFormula 3000 during the late 1990s and early 2000s, initially with theTyrrell team, and later withJordan Grand Prix andArrows Grand Prix.[2][3][4]

In 2001, European Aviation ownerPaul Stoddart acquired theMinardi team. It became known as European Minardi, and ran with European branding on the cars alongside the engines being branded as "European".[5][6]
