Esteban Efraín Paredes Quintanilla (born 1 August 1980) is a Chilean former professionalfootballer who played as aforward.
Paredes is the first player to be five-timePrimera División de Chile top goalscorer[1][2] and has scored 286 league goals in his career, highlighting his 217–Primera División de Chile goals record which allowed him to be the all-time top goalscorer of Chilean first-tier tournaments history. On 5 October 2019, he achieved the record[3] surpassingFrancisco Valdés[4] in a 3–2 win overUniversidad de Chile in theChilean Superclásico.
He began his career atSantiago Morning youth ranks and was promoted in 2000.
In 2009, he joined Chilean giantsColo-Colo on a three-year contract. That season, Paredes was an influential player and helped the team to win theTorneo Clausura. He was a key player in the final againstUniversidad Católica, scoring twice past Universidad Católica goalkeeperPaulo Garcés.[5]
In May 2022, after playing forCoquimbo Unido in theChilean Primera División, and having scored 367 goals in his career, Paredes announced his retirement as a professional footballer.[6] However, in June 2023 he returned to the football activity by signing withSan Antonio Unido in theSegunda División Profesional de Chile.[7] Retired again, he returned to play forSantiago Morning in August 2024,[8] announcing his definitive retirement at the end of the season.[9]
Paredes represented his country in twoWorld Cups, in2010 and2014 respectively, and at the2011 Copa América.

In February 2024, Paredes assumed assport manager ofSantiago Morning, the club with which he began his playing career.[10]
In December 2024, Paredes graduated as afootball manager atINAF [es] (National Institute of Football, Sports and Physical Activity of Chile).[11]
His son, Esteban Paredes Lastra, was with theColo-Colo youth ranks and then moved toPalestino when his father left Colo-Colo.[12]
In August 2022, he joinedTNT Sports Chile as the co-host of the cooking and talk showSabor a Gol (Flavor of Goal) alongside the chef Tomás Olivera.[13]
He is currently the face of a sport betting app namedJuega en Linea.[14]
In October 2025, Paredes entered the dance TV showFiebre de Baile [es] (Dance Fever) fromChilevisión.[15]
