Eritrea made its debut at the2000 Summer Olympics inSydney where it sent three athletes to compete in track and field events. At the2004 Games inAthens,Zersenay Tadese wonEritrea's first ever medal when he finished third in themen's 10,000 meters.
Eritrea made its winter debut at the2018 Winter Olympics inPyeongChang, South Korea, whereShannon-Ogbnai Abeda competed for Eritrea in thealpine skiing events.[1]
TheEritrean National Olympic Committee was formed in 1996 and recognized by theInternational Olympic Committee in 1999.
