Erin McGreehan (born July 1982)[1] is an IrishFianna Fáil politician who has served as aTeachta Dála (TD) for theLouth constituency since the2024 general election. She previously served as aSenator from 2020 to 2024, after beingnominated by the Taoiseach.[2][3]
McGreehan grew up in Castletowncooley, atownland in the north ofCounty Louth, and attended Mullaghbuoy National School and Bush Post Primary School.[4]
McGreehan lives on theCooley Peninsula with her partner, Donal McMorland, and their four children; they run an engineering business.[5]
Formerly a member ofÓgra Fianna Fáil in County Louth, she was elected to serve on the Ógra Fianna Fáil National Executive. She worked as a parliamentary assistant to SenatorDiarmuid Wilson for several years.
She served as a member ofLouth County Council from 2019 to 2020.[6] In June 2020, she wasnominated by the Taoiseach,Micheál Martin, toSeanad Éireann.[7] McGreehan was appointed to the Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters and the Oireachtas Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.[8]
In 2024, McGreehan welcomed the decision of the Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters to extend the Free Travel Pass to any person medically certified as unfit to drive.[9]
McGreehan was elected to the Dáil in 2024. She was subsequently appointed Cathaoirleach of the Committee on Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.[10]
She is currently a Director of Women's Aid Dundalk.[11] An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk[12] and a member of Glenmore Athletic Club.
