Japanese football player
Eriko Arakawa (荒川 恵理子 ,Arakawa Eriko ; born 30 October 1979) is a Japanesefootball player. She plays forChifure AS Elfen Saitama and formerly played for theJapan national team .
Arakawa was born inNerima ,Tokyo on 30 October 1979. In 1997, she joinedL.League clubYomiuri-Seiyu Beleza (laterNippon TV Beleza ) from youth team. She was selected Best Eleven in2003 and2004 . In the September2008 WPS International Draft , she was drafted byFC Gold Pride in the top level US basedWomen's Professional Soccer league.[ 2]
In her first appearance for FC Gold Pride, Arakawa scored the club's first ever goal against theBoston Breakers in a 2–1 victory. It would turn out to be her only goal of the season. Following the end of the2009 WPS season , she was back toNippon TV Beleza .[ 3]
In 2010, she moved toUrawa Reds . From 2013, she played forChifure AS Elfen Saitama (2013-2014, 2016),Nippon TV Beleza (2015) andNippon Sport Science University Fields Yokohama (2017). She is currently playing forChifure AS Elfen Saitama from 2018.
National team career [ edit ] On 10 June 2000, Arakawa debuted forJapan national team againstCanada .[ 4] She was a member of Japan's squads at the2003 and2007 World Cups , and the2004 and2008 Summer Olympics . She played 72 games and scored 20 goals for Japan until 2011.
