Erastus J.O. Mwencha (November 15, 1947) is aKenyan businessman who served as a Secretary-General of theCommon Market for Eastern and Southern Africa and former Deputy Chairperson of theAfrican Union Commission, to which he was elected on February 6, 2008. On January 30, 2017, he was succeeded as Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission by Ghana diplomatThomas Kwasi Quartey.^[1]

He is married with three children.
