TheEpiscopal Church in Southeast Florida is adiocese of theEpiscopal Church in the United States of America (ECUSA) which extends fromKey West,Florida on the south, toJensen Beach on the north and inland toClewiston on the west. Major cities in the diocese areMiami,Fort Lauderdale andWest Palm Beach. The diocese takes in all ofMiami-Dade County,Broward County,Palm Beach County, andMartin County, along with theFlorida Keys portion ofMonroe County and the eastern part ofHendry County. The diocese is a part ofProvince IV of the Episcopal Church.The currentdiocesan bishop of Southeast Florida isPeter Eaton. Thecathedral church of the diocese isTrinity Episcopal Cathedral, Miami. The diocese currently comprises 83 churches.[1]The philanthropic outreach arm of the Episcopal Church in Southeast Florida isEpiscopal Charities of Southeast Florida.
The Diocese of Southeast Florida was created in 1969 when theDiocese of South Florida was split to form the dioceses ofCentral Florida,Southwest Florida and Southeast Florida.
