Eokochia is amonotypic genus offlowering plants belonging to the familyAmaranthaceae.[1] The only species isEokochia saxicola.[2]
Its native range is mainlandItaly andSicily.[2]
The genus name is in honour ofWilhelm Daniel Joseph Koch (1771–1849), a German physician and botanist,[3] and the epithet of 'saxicola' is derived from 2Latin words;saxum meaning rock andincola meaning dwelling in.
It was first described and published inTaxon Vol.60 on page 72 in 2011.[2]
