Enver Leif Gjokaj (/ɛnˈvɛərˈdʒoʊkaɪ/en-VAIRJOH-ky[1]) is an American actor. He is known for his roles asVictor in thescience fiction television seriesDollhouse,Daniel Sousa inAgent Carter andAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Clark Evans inInvasion.
Gjokaj's father is Albanian, and his mother is American.[2] Gjokaj has an older brother named Bekim and an identical twin brother named Demir.[3] Both Gjokaj and his brother attendedAmador High School, inSutter Creek, California, where Gjokaj participated in multiple plays and variety shows. Gjokaj graduated with aMaster of Fine Arts fromNew York University'sGraduate Acting Program at theTisch School of the Arts.[4] While at NYU, he was a semi-finalist for Tisch'sVilar Global Fellows Program. In 2002, he received aBachelor of Arts in English fromUC Berkeley.[5]
Beginning in 2009, Gjokaj played the role ofVictor on the TV seriesDollhouse.[6] His character, whose real name is Anthony Ceccoli, is an "Active" (or "doll") inside the Dollhouse, taking on multiple personalities through the process ofhighly technological imprinting of memories. His identical twin brother Demir guest starred alongside Gjokaj in a dream sequence in a second-season episode ofDollhouse.[7]
Gjokaj has since appeared in the filmsThe Express: The Ernie Davis Story alongsideDennis Quaid,Taking Chance withKevin Bacon, andEagle Eye oppositeShia LaBeouf. Prior to his series regular role onDollhouse, he appeared in the made-for-TV filmFilthy Gorgeous and also had a recurring role on the television seriesThe Book of Daniel. He also guest starred in episodes ofLaw & Order: Criminal Intent,Community, andThe Unit.[citation needed]Gjokaj has appeared inEmergence as Agent Ryan Brooks, inNCIS: Hawai'i as Navy Captain Joe Milius and inResident Alien as Joseph in recurring capacities
Gjokaj has made multiple appearances in theMarvel Cinematic Universe.[8] In 2012, Gjokaj made an appearance inThe Avengers as a New York City police officer.[9] He starred in the two seasons ofAgent Carter (2015–2016) asStrategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) AgentDaniel Sousa.[10] He went on to reprise the role of Sousa inthe final season ofAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2020).[11]
In 2012, Gjokaj was awarded a patent for a focusing system for motion picture cameras.[12]
In 2023, Gjokaj joined the cast ofInvasion as Clark Evans.[13][14]
Gjokaj married model and actress Riya Ray on September 9, 2024.
