Ensdorf (German pronunciation:[ˈɛnsˌdɔʁf]) is a municipality in thedistrict of Saarlouis, inSaarland,Germany. It is on the right bank of the riverSaar, oppositeSaarlouis, approximately 20 km (12 mi) northwest ofSaarbrücken.
In February 2023, the American chip manufacturerWolfspeed announced it would build its first European factory in Germany[3] on the site of a former coal plant in Ensdorf withZF Friedrichshafen as a coinvestor.[4]
TheSaar Polygon is a walk-in monument situated at the former Bergwerk Saar coal mine, completed in 2016 to commemorate the region'scoal mining industry.[5]
