Ely do Amparo (14 May 1921[1] – 9 March 1991[1]), commonly known as justEly, was a Brazilian professionalfootballer who played as acentre-back. He played forBrazil in twoWorld Cups.
Ely do Amparo started his career withAmérica in 1939.[1] He joinedCanto do Rio in 1940, leaving the club in 1945 to joinVasco.[1] Ely, as part of Vasco'sExpresso da Vitória squad,[2] won theCampeonato Carioca in 1945, 1947, 1949, 1950 and in 1952, winning theSouth American Club Championship in 1948 as well.[1] Ely was transferred toSport in 1953, winning theCampeonato Pernambucano in that year and in 1955, when he retired.[1]
Ely played 19 games for theBrazil national team, including being part of theWorld Cup squad in1950[3] and in1954.[4] He was part of the squad that won thePanamerican Championship in1952.[1]
