Elliott Colla is an American scholar of the Middle East, specializing inArabic literature and culture.[1] He is an associate professor in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies atGeorgetown University and leads the Reading Palestine book club at Lost City Books.[2]
Colla received a B.A. fromUniversity of California, Berkeley in 1989 and his Ph.D. inComparative literature from Berkeley in 2000.[3] His translation ofGold Dust was runner-up for theBanipal Prize in 2009.[4]He is a co-editor of the e-zine,Jadaliyya.[5] In addition to translations and academic works, he has published a novelBaghdad Central (2014). This was adapted as atelevision series of the same name, released in 2020.[6]
