Patriach of the Church of the East (1660 - 1700)
The ancientRabban Hormizd Monastery , former residence of the Patriarchs of theChurch of the East Eliya IX (Syriac :ܐܠܝܐ /Elīyā , died 17 May 1700) wasPatriarch of theChurch of the East from 1660 to 1700, with his residence inRabban Hormizd Monastery , nearAlqosh , in modernIraq . He was a "vigorous defender of the traditional faith",[ 1] Catholic Church in the region.[ 2] [ 3]
