Elias Petty Seeley (November 10, 1791 inBridgeton, New Jersey – August 23, 1846) was an AmericanWhig Party politician who served as the 11thgovernor of New Jersey in 1833.
Seeley was named to serve as governor afterSamuel L. Southard stepped down from office to take a seat in theUnited States Senate. Seeley representedCumberland County in theNew Jersey Legislative Council from 1829 through 1833.
Seeley died on August 23, 1846, and was interred inOld Broad Street Presbyterian Church Cemetery inBridgeton, New Jersey.[1]
