TheJapanese 11th Army (第11軍,Dai-jyū-ichi gun) was anarmy of theImperial Japanese Army during theSecond Sino-Japanese War.
The Japanese 11th Army was formed on July 4, 1938, under theJapanese Central China Area Army for the task of conquering and occupying the central provinces ofChina between theYangtze River and theYellow River. The 11th Army played a major role in theBattle of Wuhan. From September 1939, it came under the newly formedChina Expeditionary Army and was transferred to the control of theJapanese Sixth Area Army in September 1944. It was disbanded at Quanzhou County (Guilin) inGuangxi province at thesurrender of Japan.
