Elena Martín Gimeno (born 1992) is a Spanish actress and filmmaker fromCatalonia.
Born inBarcelona in 1992,[1] Elena Martín Gimeno earned a degree in Audiovisual Communication from thePompeu Fabra University.[2] She starred as Àgata in the 2016 filmLes amigues de l'Àgata [es],[3][4] and made her feature film directorial debut with the 2017 dramaJúlia ist,[5] which she also co-wrote and starred.[4] For this work, she won the Best Director Award at theMálaga Film Festival's Zonacine section.[5] She later directed episodes of the season 1 ofPerfect Life,[6] an episode of the anthology seriesEn casa and collaborated in the writing ofVeneno (in which she also featured in a cameo).[7][8] She also entered development ofCreatura, her sophomore feature.[9][10]Creatura screened in Cannes'Directors' Fortnight in 2023, won Martín a nomination to theGoya Award for Best Director[11] and was featured as the Closing Night selection[12] for theAmerican Film Institute's 2023 European Union Film Showcase.[13]
