Theelectoral district of Algester is anelectoral district of theLegislative Assembly of Queensland in south-westBrisbane.[1] It includes the suburbs ofAlgester,Parkinson,Hillcrest,Boronia Heights,Forestdale,Larapinta,Heathwood,Forest Lake,Doolandella andPallara, as well as theGreenbank Military Range. It borders the electoral districts ofSunnybank,Stretton,Logan,Lockyer,Bundamba andInala.[2]

The Algester electoral district was created at the 1999 redistribution from the formerelectoral district of Archerfield, and was contested for the first time at the2001 election. It had been a safe seat for theLabor Party since its inception, as had Archerfield, but it was won byAnthony Shorten of theLiberal National Party at the2012 election.Leeanne Enoch won the seat back for Labor at the2015 election. Enoch is the first Indigenous Australian woman elected to the Queensland parliament.[3]
