Elateia (Thessaly)

Elateia orElatia (Ancient Greek:Ἐλάτεια) was a town inPelasgiotis inancient Thessaly, described byLivy, along withGonnus, as situated in the pass leading to theVale of Tempe.[1] Elateia is calledIletia byPliny the Elder,[2] andIletium orIletion (Ἰλέτιον) byPtolemy.[3] It is mentioned byStephanus of Byzantium under its right name.[4]
