El Hadji Ba (born 5 March 1993) is a French professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder for Spanish clubLinense. Born in France, he plays for theMauritania national team.
Ba made his professional debut on 24 February 2012 in a league match againstGuingamp appearing as a substitute.[3] Prior to making his debut with Le Havre, he was linked with a move to English clubTottenham Hotspur and reportedly had agreed to join the club.[4]
He made his debut for Sunderland againstCarlisle United in theFA Cup on 5 January 2014, and went on to score the third goal in a 3–1 victory.[5]
On 29 June 2015, Ba joinedCharlton Athletic on a three-year deal, therefore ending his two-year spell with Sunderland.[6] His contract with the club was terminated on 1 February 2017.[7]
On 6 March 2017, Ba joined the Norwegian teamStabæk.[8]
On 23 June 2022, Ba agreed to joinApollon Limassol in Cyprus.[9]
Born in France, Ba's parents hail fromSenegal andMauritania.[10] He was aFrench youth international, having represented his nation atunder-18 level.[4]
In 2022, he received his first invitation to representMauritania. He debuted with Mauritania in a 3–02023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification win overSudan on 4 June 2022.[11]
