Eke is a populated area, asocken (not to be confused withparish), on the Swedish island ofGotland.[3] It comprises the same area as theadministrative Eke District, established on 1 January 2016.[4]

Geography

Eke is situated in the southeast part of Gotland.[5] ThemedievalEke Church is located in the socken.[6] As of 2019[update], Eke Church belongs to Havdhemparish in Sudretspastorat, along with the churches inHavdhem,Näs,Grötlingbo,Hablingbo andSilte.[7][8]

History

The Gudinghillfort in Eke was built during theIron Age. The wall that encircles it is approximately 450 m (1,480 ft) long and the courtyard about 12,000 m2 (130,000 ft2).[9]
