Ehren Kruger (born October 5, 1972)[1] is an American film screenwriter and producer. He is best known for writing three of the five installments in the originalTransformers film series:Revenge of the Fallen,Dark of the Moon, andAge of Extinction, in addition to the American version ofThe Ring and its sequelThe Ring Two and theAmerican adaptation ofGhost in the Shell.[2]

For his work onTop Gun: Maverick, Kruger was nominated for theAcademy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Life and career

Kruger was raised inAlexandria,Virginia, and attended theThomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, graduating in 1990.[3] He graduated from theNew York University Tisch School of the Arts in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.[4]

His produced screenplays includeArlington Road,Scream 3 andReindeer Games.[5] He was nominated for theBram Stoker Award for Best Screenplay forThe Ring.[6]

He also did uncredited rewrites toScream 4, whenKevin Williamson had to leave production.[7][8]

Early on in his career after writing the screenplayArlington Road, he received theNicholl Fellowship from theAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1996.[9] Kruger wrote the script of the television series adaptation ofTerry Gilliam's filmThe Brothers Grimm.[10]
