Egy Maulana Vikri (born 7 July 2000) is an Indonesian professionalfootballer who plays as awinger or anattacking midfielder forLiga 1 clubDewa United and theIndonesia national team. In 2017, he was named as one of the 60 most talented and promising players born in 2000 byThe Guardian.[2]
Maulana Vikri comes from a family of footballers. His father coached at SSB Tasbi, a football school inMedan where Vikri began to play, while his older brother Yusrizal Muzakki has played for lower league teams in Indonesia. At SSB Tasbi, Maulana Vikri participated in the Grassroots Indonesian U-12 Tournament in 2012, when his talent was noticed by the Indonesian national talent scouts. At that time, Maulana Vikri helped his team to become the champions of that tournament and also ended up as the top scorer. After finishing primary school, he attended Special Sports School, a government secondary school for talented athletes in the Ragunan area ofSouth Jakarta. In 2016, Maulana Vikri was part of an Indonesian youth team that became champions of theGothia Cup in Sweden, with him being awarded the Best Player Award for scoring a total of 28 goals.[3]
His talent attracted international media attention when he played for theIndonesia U-19 team that represented Asia in theToulon Tournament for youth teams from 29 May to 10 June 2017. Although his team lost all of its group matches, Maulana Vikri won theJouer Revelation Trophée for being the breakout player in the tournament, an award previously won byCristiano Ronaldo andZinedine Zidane.[3][4]
In September 2017, Maulana Vikri became the top scorer of the 2017AFF U-19 Youth Championship with eight goals for theIndonesia U-19 team.[5]
Maulana Vikri went on trial to European clubs in 2018 – includingBenfica,Sporting CP,Getafe CF,Espanyol,Legia Warsaw,Saint-Étienne,Ajax Amsterdam, and some Italian clubs.[6][7][8][9]
On 11 March 2018, Maulana Vikri officially joinedLechia Gdańsk on a three–year deal, joining the team on his 18th birthday.[10] He was handed the number 10 shirt, triggering hype in Poland and Indonesia.[11] The same year on 22 December, Maulana Vikri made his senior debut as a substitute in a league match againstGórnik Zabrze.[12] He played in the2019 Polish Super Cup final againstPiast Gliwice, coming on as a substitute in a match that Lechia won 3–1.[13] On 30 June 2021, Maulana Vikri was announced to leave the club after three years following the expiration of his contract.[14]
On 30 August 2021, Maulana Vikri completed a move to Slovakian clubSenica on a six-month contract, with an option to extend further for one-and-a-half years.[15] He made his league debut on 12 September atŠtadión FK Senica, coming on as a substitute in the 59th minute with an assist in a 1–0league victory againstPohronie.[16] On 22 September, Vikri made his first start in aleague cup game against TJ Nafta Gbely, as Senica won 3–0, with Maulana Vikri assisting the first goal.[17] he scored his first goal on 27 November in a league match againstMSK Zilina, which was postponed at half-time when the score was 1–1 due to heavyblizzard. Three days later, he scored another goal in the continuation match, as Senica drew 2–2.[18][19] His performance led him to be awardedFortuna Liga Team of The Week, and he was voted as the bestAFC International Player of The Week.[20][21]
In May 2022, Vikri terminated his contract with Senica due to the club's financial crisis. It was also reported that Senica had not paid player salaries.[22]
On 9 August 2022, Vikri signed a one-year contract with another Slovak clubZlaté Moravce.[23] On 13 August, he debuted as a substitute in a 1–0 league loss againstŽilina. Despite coming on as a substitute, Vikri was sent off at the 83rd minute.[24] On 20 August, two minutes after coming on as a 60th minute substitute, Vikri set upTomáš Horák's goal in an eventual 2–2 draw againstRužomberok.[25]
On 30 January 2023, Vikri returned to Indonesia, signing for Liga 1 clubDewa United permanently.[26] Three days later, he made hisleague debut for the club while scoring his first league goal in a 1–1 draw againstMadura United at theIndomilk Arena,Tangerang.[27] Six days later, Vikri came as a starter with the first assists a winning goal as a substitute at the 12th minute forMajed Osman in Dewa United's 1–0 victory againstBorneo Samarinda.[28]

In December 2014, Vikri debuted with his first goal forIndonesia U-16 in a friendly match againstVietnam U-16[30] one year beforeIndonesia's FIFA suspension in 2015.[30] Weeks before the suspension, Egy scored two goals in a friendly match againstJapan U-16 in April 2015.[31]
On 31 May 2017, Vikri debuted for theIndonesia U-19 team in the2017 Toulon Tournament againstBrazil U20.[32] His impressive performance at the tournament earned him theBreakthrough Player of the Tournament.[33] He made his debut for theIndonesia U-23 in a friendly match against theSyria U-23 on 16 November 2017 where he came on as a substitute.[34]
On 14 January 2018, Vikri debuted for theIndonesia national team in a friendly match againstIceland.[35] He appeared as a second-half substitute, replacingOsvaldo Haay.[35] On 25 May 2021, Vikri scored his first international goal in a friendly match inDubai againstAfghanistan.[36][37]
On 11 October 2021, Vikri scored his competitive international goal againstChinese Taipei during the second leg of2023 AFC Asian Cup qualification – play-off round, which Indonesia won 3–0.[38] On 25 December 2021, he made his debut in a2020 AFF Championship and also scored againstSingapore in the second leg of semi-final in a 4–2 victory after extra-time.[39] He scored again againstThailand in the second leg of the final in a 2–2 draw, avoiding another loss to Thailand.[40]
Vikri has Dutch ancestry through his paternal grandfather who was born in theDutch East Indies.[41]
On 10 December 2023, Maulana Vikri married to Adiba Khanza Az-Zahra, daughter of late Indonesian Islamic preacherJefri Al Buchori which was held at Hallf Pati Unus, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.[42][43] Before carrying out their marriage, Adiba and Egy carried outTaaruf for 4 years.[44]
