Eglinton—Lawrence is a federalelectoral district inOntario, Canada, that has been represented in theHouse of Commons of Canada since 1979.
It covers a portion ofToronto northwest ofdowntown. It stretches fromYonge Street in the east to Caledonia in the west and fromHighway 401 in the north toEglinton Avenue in the south.Lawrence Avenue runs through the centre of the riding. Neighbourhoods in the riding includeBedford Park,Lawrence Manor,Lawrence Heights, the southwestern part ofYork Mills and the western part ofLawrence Park. The riding includes portions of the former cities ofNorth York, Toronto, and York.
As per the 2016 Census, Eglinton—Lawrence is the City of Toronto riding with the highest percentage of people of Polish ethnic origin (12.0%) and the second-highest percentage of people of Jewish ethnic origin (5.1%). The riding has a large Jewish population, currently the third-largest in Canada at 16.5 percent behindThornhill andMount Royal.[3]
The riding was created in 1976 from parts ofEglinton,York Centre,York South, andYork West. It has been represented by LiberalJoe Volpe from 1988 to 2011, by ConservativeJoe Oliver from 2011 to 2015, and by LiberalMarco Mendicino from 2015 to 2025. It is a relatively safe seat for theLiberal Party, having returned only Liberal MPs at every election except the2011 Canadian federal election, although the Conservatives are stronger here than in other Central Toronto ridings, notably only losing by 2% in 2025.
This riding's boundaries were not changed during the2012 electoral redistribution.
