Efraín Goldenberg Schreiber (orEfraím; 28 December 1929 – 10 December 2025) was a Peruvian politician who served asfinance and economy minister,foreign relations minister, andprime minister during the presidency ofAlberto Fujimori.[1]

Personal life

Goldenberg was born on 28 December 1929,[2][3][4] inLima, Peru, toRomanian-Jewish immigrants. He grew up inTalara, and attended theUniversidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.[5] Goldenberg died on 10 December 2025 at the age of 95.[6]

Political career

On 17 February 1994, he was sworn in asPrime Minister of Peru by PresidentAlberto Fujimori, a position that he held until 1995. He was Peru's foreign relations minister prior to this office (28 August 1993 – 28 July 1995).[7][8][9] On 15 October 1999, he became Peru's minister of economy and finance.[10][11] He has had a role in the business community as chairperson of the National Fisheries Society and director of the Fund for the Promoting of Exports.
