TheEendracht is a formertidal branch ofriverScheldt that has beenchannelised to form the northern stretch of theScheldt-Rhine Canal.[1] It flows from theZoommeerlake (formerly part of theOosterschelde) nearBergen op Zoom past thetown and eponymousisland ofTholen towards the formerisland ofSint Philipsland, where it used to end in theKrabbenkreekestuary. The passage to the estuary has been closed off, however, and an additional stretch ofcanal was dug to connect the Eendracht to theKrammer lake, itself a formerestuary closed off from thesea during theDelta Works. The Eendracht is probably the last remaining remnant of theStriene river.
