Edward Elliott Johnston (January 3, 1918 – February 18, 2011)[1] was an American businessman and politician.
Raised inJacksonville, Illinois, Johnston graduated fromIllinois College and was a radio broadcaster. He served in theUnited States Air Force duringWorld War II and theKorean War. He moved toHawaii Territory and was in the insurance and tourism business. He was also involved with theRepublican Party in Hawaii. PresidentDwight Eisenhower appointed Johnston secretary of the Hawaii Territory. In 1969, PresidentRichard Nixon appointed Johnston High Commissioner of theTrust Territory of the Pacific Islands and served until 1976. He died inRohnert Park, California.[2]
