Edward Chilufya Jr. (born 17 September 1999) is a Zambian professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forDanish Superliga clubMidtjylland, and theZambia national team.
A product of the Mpande Academy in Zambia, Chilufya started training withDjurgården in June 2017.[2] He signed his first professional contract with Djurgården on 15 February 2018.[3] Chilufya made his professional debut for Djurgårdens in a 1–0Svenska Cupen win overBK Häcken on 12 March 2018.[4] Chilufya made his league debut inAllsvenskan in a 1–3 win overIFK Göteborg on 24 May 2018.[5]
On 30 January 2022, Chilufya signed withDanish Superliga clubMidtjylland, penning a deal keeping him inHerning until December 2026.[6][7]
On 1 September 2023, Chilufya returned to Sweden, signing a one-year loan withBK Häcken.[8] He returned to Midtjylland in the summer 2024 after the loan spell.[9]
Chilufya represented theZambia national under-20 football team at the2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. He helped Zambia win the tournament, scoring in the final against theSenegal U20s in a 2–0 win on 12 March 2017.[10] Chilufya ended with 4 goals, and was joint top scorer for the tournament.[11] Chilufya also represented the Zambia at the2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and helped his team make it into the quarterfinals of the competition.[12] He also made 3 appearances for the Zambia U20s2017 COSAFA U-20 Cup.[13]
Chilufya was called up to the seniorZambia national football team for a2018 FIFA World Cup qualification match againstNigeria on 7 October 2017, but could not make the roster because of paperwork issues.[14] He made his debut in a friendly 2–1 loss toKenya on 9 October 2020.[15]
