Edin Karamazov (bornEdin Džananović in 1965) is aBosnian musician,lutenist andguitarist.
Karamazov studied lute withHopkinson Smith at theSchola Cantorum Basiliensis. He has worked with such ensembles asHesperion XX,L'Arpeggiata,Hilliard Ensemble, Mala Punica,Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and singersAndreas Scholl,María Cristina Kiehr,Arianna Savall, andSting.[1]
Karamazov accompanied Andreas Scholl on his albumWayfaring Stranger (Decca 2001). Collaborations with Sting in the field of 16th century music resulted in the album and filmSongs from the Labyrinth, devoted to the lute-songs ofJohn Dowland (DG, 2007).[2][3]
Karamazov's first solo projectThe Lute Is a Song (Decca, 2008) includes guest appearances ofSting,Renée Fleming and Macedonian singer and songwriterKaliopi.[4]
Karamazov's second soloarchlute recordingBritten - Bach (Alpha, 2011) featuresBenjamin Britten's "Nocturne" andJohann Sebastian Bach's violin Partita in D-minor.
He has also recorded with the Croatian women's vocal grouphr:Klapa Cesarice (Menart, 2012).
