TheEcdeiocoleaceae comprise afamily offlowering plants with two genera and three species.[2] Thebotanical name has rarely been recognized by taxonomists.
TheAPG II system, in 2003 (unchanged from theAPG system, 1998), does recognize such a family, and assigns it to the orderPoales in the cladecommelinids, in themonocots. Three species in two genera,Ecdeiocolea andGeorgeantha, bothendemic toSouthwest Australia, have been described to date.[3][4][5]
