Eastwick is a village andcivil parish 7 miles (11 km) east ofHertford,[1] in theEast Hertfordshire district, in the county ofHertfordshire, England. In 2011 the parish had a population of 194.[2] The parish touchesGilston,High Wych,Hunsdon andWidford.[3] Eastwick shares a parish council with Gilston.[4]
It is 840 acres of land.[5]
There are 11listed buildings in Eastwick.[6] Eastwick has a church called St Botolph's Church[7] and a pub called the Lion.[8]
The name "Eastwick" means 'East specialised farm'.[9] Eastwick was recorded in theDomesday Book asEsteuuiche.[10] Eastwick wasEsteuiche in the 11th century,Estuic in the 12th century,Estuick,Estwyk andEstwyke in the 13th century,Estwyk atte Flore in the 14th century andEastuick in the 16th century.[11]
