Eagle Pictures S.p.A. is an Italian filmdistribution andproduction company. It is Italy's leading independent film distributor.[1]

History

Eagle Pictures was founded byCiro [it] and Stefano Dammicco in 1986.[2] ProducerTarak Ben Ammar acquired acontrolling interest in the company in late 2007.[3][4]

In late 2018, Eagle Pictures established a film and television production division, having previously producedPaolo and Vittorio Taviani'sThe Lark Farm (2007) andEdoardo De Angelis'sMozzarella Stories (2011). It had also acted as aline producer during the Italian shoots ofKingsman: The Secret Service (2014),Point Break (2015),Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), and6 Underground (2019).[5]

In January 2020, Eagle Pictures entered into a distribution agreement withParamount Pictures, after their deal with20th Century Fox expired earlier that month.[6] In February 2021, Eagle entered into a home entertainment distribution agreement withSony Pictures.[7] The following year, it also entered into a production and distribution agreement with Sony, effective in 2023.[8][9]

In June 2023, Eagle Pictures announced that they would be investing between €40 and 50 million in the construction of newfilm studios inRome.[10][11]

Mergers and acquisitions

In July 2020, Eagle Pictures acquired distributor M2 Pictures for around €8.5 million.[12] In August 2022, it acquired 302 Original Content, a film and television productionstartup company;[13][14] it was later renamed to Eagle Original Content.[15] In March 2023, Eagle Pictures merged with 3 Marys Entertainment.[10] Later that year, it acquiredBlu Yazmine [it], a production company specializing in unscripted television.[16]
