ERB-196, also known asWAY-202196, is asyntheticnonsteroidal estrogen that acts as a highlyselectiveagonist of theERβ.[1][2][3][4][5][6] It possesses 78-fold selectivity for the ERβ over theERα.[1] The drug was under development byWyeth for the treatment ofinflammation andsepsis starting in 2004 but development was discontinued by 2011.[2][7]
